PLC Construction, Inc. was a contractor for I&E construction, during the commissioning phase for the Brasada Gas Plant, a 200MMSCFD Cryogenic gas plant in South Texas. PLC’s original scope was to provide technicians for the loop checks and commissioning.
Late in the construction phase, PLC was asked to assist with rewiring all panels after ISA 84 Segregation on the control system was completed. Thus, PLC mobilized a crew of instrument technicians and electricians 6 weeks early to ensure the segregation was properly implemented and there was no delay in schedule. Additionally, PLC modified all the vendor supplied motor control
centers to include hardwired signals due to being incorrectly designed without this function. Our electrical construction crew performed the new I/O terminations and technicians simultaneously performed loop checks on the completed panels. Further tasks included assisting with motor run-ins and redlines for As-built drawings. The operations staff was embedded in the loop check process from the control room to the field to guarantee thorough training and a smooth operational turnover.
